Hey guys,
Im intersted to hear what rigs you guys use out there. I currently use a solitaire but I am finding my sound on stage to be quite thin, i have experimented with different types of monitors but have not found the right one. My sound from the PA is great on the other hand - which i dont get to hear being on stage.

It's esentially a preamp/digital fx processor. A very nice unit (and that's not just because I'm affiliated with Yamaha! ) Also, Danny comes out through the main PA system which includes 2 EV 1502 cabinets and a QSC amp. Pete

OK, I'm a bit of a techno-amateur so bear with me here ... How does the JBL monitor work in this set-up? Is it a powered unit that gets a feed directly from your pre-amp/effects unit or do you take a line-out from the desk and get the whole mix thru it?

I think it is best if the bouzouki player has his own rig and a dedicated speaker, like Danny has. He then send me a line out to the main system. That way, he has a bouzouki speaker on stage for his own monitoring and most of the sound comes out the front. We also use a monitor for vocals, keys, and perhaps a bit more bouzouki if necessary. That sounds like a nice clean rig....probably a nice small, light rack as well. How do you like the preamp? Danny just started using that same compressor, it works well. P

the rack is heavy man, cause of the poweramp, its 67 lbs. the preamp i like, it has parametric eq and is also a blender, you can give it two signals at once, pickup and transducer etc, and get a monster sound, you blend the 2 signals together.

Nice! I finally replaced my heavy amp with a nice QSC at a mere 20 lbs or so. If you want to spend the money...there is also the Walter Woods at 6 lbs!

Yes, but the QSC is very clean and it sounds fine for anything that we are doing. Besides, you have to look at the sound:back pain ratio! P

So Danny's JBL wedge is powered? And it takes a feed from his pre-amp/effects rack, basically acting in the same way as a guitar/bouzouki amp?
Sounds like you guys have got some decent hardware happening.
I currently run a very basic set-up: BOSS multi-effect unit into a Fender Twin (mainly for on-stage/monitor) and then line-out from the amp into the PA for front of house.
I'm thinking of getting a pre-amp unit, any suggestions? I am obviously not a pro and only play big gigs about 6-7 times a year so I don't want to spend big $$$.

Andonis, the Rane is not a pricey item. I just looked on ebay to see if one was available--no luck. Keep looking. I'm happy with the presonus comp I use- it's under $100!! Hijazz is using a presonus pre amp--please share some info on the sound quality and your over all impression with us. I believe that too, is under $100. Danny

i have also been told that the bbe acoustic pre-amp is a very good unit, has anyone else tried this? i prefer solitaire, but in order to obtain a good sound you need to drive the amp which is very annoying to the other band members on stage, it drains everyones sound
