Hi, I play mostly Bulgarian/Macedonian music, a few Greek and Turkish tunes, mostly on accordion. I do a lot of taxims/improvising. I've been trying to get it going on a Juno 106. The sounds are amazing. However, I want to be able to play quarter tones easily. Does anyone else use the pitch weel for this? It seems to sloppy. Does anyone know of a small external unit that will give me quarter tones, and that won't, as with the GEM models, make the pitch weel unusable? Also, if anyone else has used a Juno, do you find the weel hard to use compared to something like a GEM, for getting smooth clarinet like glissandi? I like the old school synths. The moog posting is great, and I like players such as Amza Tairov. Heaps of gypsies used Casio CZs, Yamaha DXs, etc. Not such a big fan of Korgs, GEMs etc. despite their convenience factor and microtonal choices. cheers, Alister

Hi Alister, Check out the Arabic scale converter by Kelfar. This one is the best right now. It uses sysex info not pitch bend...so that won't be a problem. I used to own a Juno 106....it was my first keyboard! The problem with the Juno is that it doesn't have mono mode, which is preferable for Taxim type playing.

Thanks. I wonder if kelfar would work on a Juno. Why is mono mode important? Alister

Yes, it will. Well, sometimes, synth solo sounds just feel better in mono mode. It all depends on what you're used to. I'm old-school!
