OK, firstly let's wait for all the real keyboardists to pick themselves up after having fallen over laughing at the mere mention of the Yamaha DX7 So anyway ... my brother used to dabble in keyboards in our band many lifetimes ago and he purchased a mint condition DX7 to ply his trade. After a couple of years, and not many gigs, he gave up music for good and the still mint DX7 was locked up in it's hardcase and put aside in the spare room where it has sat for the better part of the last 10 years. It is still in excellent condition and works like it did when it was new. My question is, is there still a spot for an old digital synth like this in today's music/bands? From memory, it did have a few excellent sounds for Greek music (and many more awful ones). Is it worth holding onto it or should I just sell it? Any thoughts or suggestions?

Giaou Andoni, The DX7, if I am not mistaken works through frequency modulation, and has been re-released as software, the FM7: www.nativeinstruments.de/index.php?fm7_us&ftu=34e623e5e9&flash=9Its essentially the same thing as the hardware, only its easier to edit in software cause you have a great big screen. In this incarnation it finds use in all kinds of modern music, as it gives a different sound than your normal 'additive' (virtual) analog synth. I dont use it much but its a good and valid instrument to have for all kinds of music... for when you need its 'sound'... I dont know what kinda synths these greek bands use for live performances though...

can u suggest me a good synth? (regular prices plz ) Yasou Chris, it sounds like you have a couple of nice boards. I really like the Kurzweils for Greek music...I use the K2VX. Lately, I'm not too excited about most of the new gear. However, Roland and Gem have some very nice new oriental synths....a little pricey, but they are really built for what we do! Panagiotis
