Hi guys, It has been a long time since posts... I just thought to get a topic going regarding a fairly new luthier in Adelaide, Australia, George Stasinopoulos. I played on several of his bouzouki recently and was very impressed with sound, workmanship and overall playability. He is a vital source here in Australia, anybody needing a new zouk check him out, www.bouzoukimaker.com. I recently started using a prodigy pick up, which I am extremely happy with, compared to the emg the sound is alot fuller and ver well balanced. The arcondis active is a good one as well that i use often. As for luthiers in Greece, my recent experience was with Tsolis (this is prior to me meeting George and checking out his work), this man is amaZing, great to deal with and his instruments are one of the best that I have seen..excellent value for money. I am curious to hear of any new rigs that have been used of late. Any good pre-amps other than the ones mentioned in another thread? Danny are you still using the rane? Yianni.

Does the Prodigy still have that nice clean acoustic sound like the EMG? You know, we just got a new Mackie board 1602 VLZ ...or something...Danny just goes into a Stewart Electronics direct box and staight into the board. Sounds great!! It has really nice preamps. Pete

Hi guys !!! Its been a while. Just dropped in to say hi and talk about a new piece of equipment that I picked up. I bought a Behringer (TUBE ULTRA-Q T1951) parametric tube eq. It has 4 fully parametric stereo bands with center frequency, bandwidth and amplitude controls, plus the option to use the low- and high-frequency bands as shelving filters.
I bought it for 185 euros brand bew. Dirt cheap ! It takes up 2 rack spaces. Well built. It allows you to selectively add tube warmth to your eq's signal.
The sound is amazing !!! Just amazing !!!!!! Warm, sweet, responsive ... mind blowing for the 185 euro price tag. I use the right channel for my bouzouki, and the left for my violing. It is equally amazing with the violin. Can't beat tubes !!!! I thought the tube warmth button concept was really cheasy when I heard about it. A friend of mine had the unit and I checked it out and was really impressed. So I bought it. When I took it home and read the owners manual, I discovered that my friend really didn't know how to use the unit properly. So the sound that I got eventually was 10 times better than the sound that I had in mind when I purchased the unit. Everyone in the band is nuts about the unit.
Behringer is a low cost company that makes really good quality products. I am also using a behringer self amplified monitor. Were not talking hi tech here guys, ( as far as the monitor is concerned) but clean and very cool for the money. But the eq I would match up against anything I've heard for bouzouki.
It's friday ... I'm playing tonight and tomorrow... and ever since I got this unit ... I am just so anxious to go and play and play.
I've been really busy the last few months... and I got kind of burnt out with the whole forum world ...especially over at the other forum ... but I'll try to contribute more often.

Hi Tom, It's great to hear from you. Please do stop by more often! It very cool when you find that peice of gear that inspires you to play. It's rare in the keyboard world...for me anyway....unless I'm sitting at my Yamaha grand piano! I'm glad to hear you've been gigging so much. Me and Danny have been playing a lot as well. sometimes Lou will come and play. In fact, last week, I even did a gig with Lambros....yes, he's still around! He still plays great....he's got that Lemonopoulos thing happening. Hey, it would be cool if you could post some pics of your band, setup, etc. I don't know what your internet situation is like over there but if you can swing it, that would be great.
Best, Pete

Thano, I recently purchased a behringer bass limiter pedal to experiment, the sound was amazing, I have heard mixed reports about behringer but this pedal really does the trick and does wonders on the sound..perhaps if you use this with the tube eq it could enhance your sound. What type of shows are you doing in Athens?
Panagioti, sorry for the late reply, the prodigy is a clean pickup with a rich sound, i prefer it to the emg which i find to be a bit thin in sound and not a good output especially on the bourganes.
