Is there a definitive right (or wrong) way to store your bouzouki? Should an instrument be stored in the case or out of the case? Does the construction of the case make any difference? (i.e. fibreglass vs cardbord vs foam vs plastic/polycarbonate). Should a bouzouki be in a stand or suspended from the headstock? What about temperature & humidity?

When you can have the bouzouki out breathing that's a good thing. severe temprature changes should be avoided. When in the case, take one of those little bags (I forgot what they are made of ) that you find used to de humidify shipped objects and put it into the bowl of the bouzouki, keeps that moisture in check. As far as cases go, the stronger the better! I keep my bouzouki on a stand that supports from the headstock. Hope this helps. Dannyh

adoni, i have always been told the bouzouki should be out of the case so the wood can breathe, avoid sunlight and severe temperature drop, again it all depends where you live, if you have to keep it in the case ensure it is half open at the very least.

Thanks for the info Danny. Unfortunately I don't have anywhere that I'd consider safe to leave my zouk on a stand where my little boy can't his hands on it so I usually have to leave it in the case.

I just remembered what the little bags are: silicone bags. Put those in your case and in the bouzouki to balance the humidity. remove it when playing! Danny
