Panagioti, I just came home from a job and saw your posts... I think yor concept is great... to help you and this forum out, I sat down for about an hour and put some of the songs that Ousak listed together to give more novice members an idea of what Ousak sounds like in different keys and rhythms... basically, I am trying to play the chords and rhythm with my left hand and the leads and fill-ins with my right.... I included the vocals portion within each song, but since I do not usually play that portion of the song, there are a few mistakes here and there... More or less, I figure I record something quickly, so everyone can understand the contrast of Ousak.... But, I am unable to upload the medley to this site... I do not have a streamload account, and I rather not try to use another shared website where I may get some viruses.... So, how can I upload the 10M file?

To upload a 10MB file, use www.yousendit.comIt's a safe site... The download link is only available for several days. I recommend you make a Streamload account, because it's free !!! Free accounts get 100MB a month of downloads !! It's like an email account, but with files.

That's a good idea. I'm so glad that there is some interest in a forum like this.

Here is a problem i have with scales. Unless i start on the first note i have problems knowing in what position the scale is in.
I find myself many times playing the melody on the song and then continuing up or down the scale until i come to the first position. Any other short cuts on this?

Ousak.. you are correct... Of course it is Kato ta Xairia Sou!!!!!
Likewise, I appreciate the compliment, but I am not posting music here for compliments... If I truly was, I would have made sure absolutely no mistakes were recorded, and I played the style I am used to playing. I feel that Panagioti and Danny are great musicians as they are people, and I am trying to make this forum to as robust as possible... I have not met them yet personally, but from some postings and limited e-mail communications, they seem to be top notch individuals.
I hope the Ousak song snippets allows someone more novice to hear these songs in a more rudamentary format, such as a piano playing both chords and leads, htat will allow them to better grasp the beauty of the Ousak scale.

Great examples! Thanks for contributing so much to the content of this forum. I think the more audio, the better. Many of those were nice examples of how tunes can temporarily change modes as well.

I find myself many times playing the melody on the song and then continuing up or down the scale until i come to the first position. Any other short cuts on this? Well, I think that that is a good start. When in doubt, just play the melody until you can find the tonic. Another good exercise is to play through the scale starting from the 1st tone up the octave and then playing through successive tones: Example: In C major scale play: cdefgabc defgabcd efgabcde fgabcdef gabcdefg abcdefga bcdefgab cdefgabc Do this in every key. You will then be very comfortable in the major mode-katharo matzore. Try this with other dromous. Good Luck, Pete
