Hi,
I have been learning the bouzouki for 2 months now and really enjoying it. I am still however to buy one and am learning on an old guitar as I cannot afford a bouzouki yet.
Was wondering if anyone has the fingering for Zorba the Greek.
Cheers

Hey Ax, welcome to the forum! I think you'll find that most bouzouki players do not read tablature. Perhaps I can play a bit of it on video and post it for you to see. Would that be helpful?

That would be fantastic if you could. You could maybe save it on rapidshare.com Cheers

OK, I'll try to do it tomorrow. I'm a bit busy today. Are you looking to buy a bouzouki soon? Maybe me and others on the forum can help you locate one.

Great. Thank you very much.
Yeah. I am practising everyday (I should say evening after 10pm). We have a little daughter which takes up all our time(not that I mind). I am looking for a beginner's bouzouki as my funds are pretty slim at the moment so if anyone knows of a good cheap one please advise.
Cheers

Yes, my three kids were a handful when they were really little. What price range can you afford and in what part of the country (world) do you live?

I think there are several options in Australia. There are a few makers there as well. Let me ask around.

Ebay is always an option. Of course, you're not going to get much for $300. however, perhaps a "decent" used bouzouki might be found....of course, I use the word "decent" loosely. Pete

Thanks for your help Pete. I will be patient and save a bit more so I can purchase a "decent" instrument.

ax, for 300 you will not get much and chances are it will put you off bouzouki. Save a bit more and you wont be disappointed. There are some bouzouki stores in sydney that sell beginner instruments at reasonable prices. I believe one store is called music city in petersham?, the contact there is spiro, perhaps give them a call and see how you go. I think he imports sakis instruments which are good for beginner to intermediate players. Good luck. There is also George Stasinopoulos www.bouzoukimaker.com who is perhaps one of the best luthiers out of Greece. Check him out as well.

That's true....$300 is not much. I was thinking that he possibly could find a used Sakis or something.

I will just keep on saving and keep a look out.
BTW. How did you go with zorba the greek? If you don't have time, was wondering if you have the tablature (or finger positions).
Cheers

Ax, Check out GreekBouzoukiTab.com, www.greekbouzoukitab.com/ , they have some free tabs for both the bouzouki and guitar, and you can purchase the tab you want in the Beginners Package if no one here can provide it for you. All prices are in Canadian dollars, and the tab files are PDF, so make sure you have Adobe Acrobat reader. I hope that helps, though I don't play the bouzouki, nor have I used that website before Good luck
